As we rode the ferry (his daily commute to and from work):

Me: “It’s so beautiful, you must love living here!”

Him: (smiling) “I do!  I love living here!  At least…(pauses)…at least I think I do.  I’ve never lived anywhere else, so how would I know if I really like it here at all?”
